Queensland is introducing a Container Refund Scheme (CRS) and a plastic bag ban commencing in July 2018.

As a local community group, these changes will provide new opportunities for you.

Under the CRS, empty beverage containers will be worth 10c each, which presents a significant financial opportunity for the Not-For-Profit sector to be involved, offering long term fundraising opportunities through the collection and return of cans and bottles. In South Australia, the NFP sector makes around $60 million annually from the scheme.

To help you prepare, the Sunshine Coast Environment Council would like to invite you to an evening forum in Nambour to discuss these opportunities. The Boomerang Alliance, who have been instrumental in the design of the CRS and bag ban, will be be there to present and answer your questions.

When: Thursday, December 14th 2017, from 6:00pm –7:30pm

Where: Nambour Bowls Club, 76 Coronation Avenue, Nambour

This forum is part of a statewide community education program aiming to inform on both new measures, but particularly to give community groups the opportunity to consider the value and potential of their involvement in the CRS, and to jointly discuss how local organisations can participate, either individually or in partnership with each other.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Kellie at  kellie.lindsay@boomerangalliance.org.au.
