Where is President Peter?
Answer: Lost somewhere near Wine Glass Bay, Freycinet Peninsula, East Coast Tassie
James Condon took the chair and welcomed our members to the meeting - for which there were many apologies.  Assistant Governor, Wendy Gilson escaped the rain in Maroochydore to join us.
Past District Governor or to use an acronym, PDG Alan Still OAM proposed the international toast to the Rotary E-Club of World Peace of which our speaker last week, Michelle Lightworker is a member.  For more information about Rotary E-Clubs, click here.  Later in  the meeting, Alan corrected his statement of last week and advised that there were no E-Clubs in Rotary Districts 9550, 9570 & 9600 - although the Rotary EClub of Global Super Heroes District 9600 is a new online Rotary club in our district, looking for future Rotarians who want to serve locally & globally.  Rotary District 9630 has two E-Clubs and D9640 has one.

Trevor Gilliland took three minutes or so to tell us about himself, including being a Rotaractor in Gympie and unwittingly being one of only two men in a large group of ladies in Brisbane.
President Elect or PE Bernie was celebrating the gift of a book from her husband, Doing Good in the World: The Inspiring Story of The Rotary Foundation's First 100 Years; preparation for her next year in office.  She also informed us about President Jimmy Carter, Peace & Rotary.  Read more here.
Our Guest Speaker was Rae Guyder who is a member of the Rotary Club of Bribie Island and is the Rotary District 9600 Chair for InterplastInterplast sends teams of volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals to provide life-changing surgery and medical training in 17 countries across the Asia Pacific region.  Interplast does this in partnership with local organisations, including hospitals, universities and local NGOs. Its mission is to ‘repair bodies and rebuild lives’ and Interplast does this through providing surgical services to those who could not otherwise afford or access these, and by building the capacity of local medical systems through our training and mentoring programs.
Merv had many subjects on which to enlighten us:

RUSCCF

RUSCCF or the Rotary and University of the Sunshine Coast Community Fund's annual dinner will be held on 23 May.  Three bursaries - each of $4,000 - will be presented.  Our club is conducting the raffle, the proceeds of which will go to the Fund.

RC Kokopo

The club has paid $446.37 or USD359.97 to RI (Rotary International) in order to support the continuance of the Rotary Club of Kokopo.  Rotary District 9600 is covering the USD$30 per head reinstatement fees for four members.  He is concerned about ongoing support for Kokopo, so that the reinstatement process and cost do not arise again. He explained that the fees required to keep Kokopo financial for the 2018/19 year would be two payments of USD120 (about AU$280-$300 for the twelve month period). By this time, the expectation is that Kokopo can contribute to their own fees.

Our Board is to consider the request.
