Towering above our guests, Chris M very capably took charge of the meeting and even gave us an early mark!  Our NYSF students and Rotary Youth Exchange students swelled our numbers despite our missing travellers in Japan.

Alan Still OAM took us to Belgium and the Rotary Club of Brugge in Rotary District 1620.  As usual the statistics went over our heads but were accepted as correct.  Have you ever noticed that the number of Rotarians in each District is usually very similar?

Our photographer, historian and Architect Roger Todd told us of his proud family history as well as some of the sordid past of Moffat Beach and the lake.  Oops, we forgot to take his photo for posterity!

Arnaldo attempted to speak in tongues, ask questions, and introduced the subject of NYSF - the National Youth Science Forum which Nicole and Jaime recently attended in Canberra.  The National Youth Science Forum has been operating for over 30 years and its aim is to encourage young Australians to be the next generation of leading scientists, engineers and mathematics experts supporting a sustainable future for our nation.  Students moving into Year 12 who wish to follow careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are introduced to research and researchers and encouraged to achieve excellence in their undertakings by helping to develop their communication and interpersonal skills.

The ladies found NYSF to be inspiring and the STEM Plus options enabled them to find out how their other interests could tie in with science.  We will all be wary of the pizza delivery man in future.  Both ladies' career plans had a shake-up as a result of NYSF,

We also had the privilege of having two Rotary Youth Exchange Students at the meeting.  Corissa from Brazil has been here for nine months hosted by the Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific.  She is attending PLC in Meridan Plains and says her English (which was really quite good) has improved enormously in the period she has been here.

President Peter was missing in action due to a work commitment in his new occupation as Locum Chemist.  Iain Nye had a commitment in Bundaberg, so he was noticed leaving early!

Gerry was back from the humidity of Darwin and - true to form - was looking for a couple of BBQ volunteers to assist in the monster Bunnings Weekend, 28-29 April.  He got one for both.

Deb explained in detail the new simplified meeting sheet, Darryl displayed his new hi-vis thongs (that should have been on his feet), and Helen was keen to see who was going to Conference and who was staying to the Flower Power Saturday Night Dinner.

And so ............ to Conference and back to Oaks in two weeks.
