Greeted by the Ian with one "i", Ian Belcher, at the Desk, members and guests arrived for our Meeting for Breakfast.
Special welcome was made by "Gordon our Grumpy Leprechaun", who resided in the Chair for the day, to our Guests for the morning.  Evelyn McCorkell, visiting from the "other" Club, Caloundra Pacific, and our Guest Speaker,  Katie Brown Community Services Manager for Sundale.

Grumpy Gordon controlled proceedings as we would expect someone with his attention to detail and relevant commentary.

Alan Still AOM took us to the Hurricane ravaged District of the Rotary Club of Tampa, Florida, for the International Toast.  Our hearts go out to the many people caught up in this disaster of epic proportions. It is comforting to know that there are fellow Rotary Clubs assisting, providing drinking water and other medical assistance.
Our Three Minute Segment was all about Heidi, this morning.  I am so fascinated by the story of each Member of our Club. Three minutes is not enough for anyone, let alone our Heidi.  You had the whole Club listening intently with enjoyment while you recounted a sometimes difficult and in the end, triumphant life.  Thank you for sharing why you love Rotary.  As I said in my speech, all Rotary Clubs need younger members to fly the flag. (Hang on, does that mean you are young?)

Our Guest Speaker, Katie, spoke very informatively about Aged Care. What's available and how to get it. As the average of a Rotarian is 71, we couldn't have chosen a better topic.  Once again, Grumpy Gordon, after taking extensive notes was very thankful for the advice, as he said, "This is all about me !"

President Peter spoke about the "Battle for Survival".  A problem that Rotary Clubs the world over are faced with. The ageing population and decline in Membership.  Click here to read what Peter said.  Please note that our Club doesn't fall into the norm like lots of others do.

We are already doing a lot of things right.  Our Membership is strong, as is our Member retention.  However, we must not become complacent.

Have a great week everybody and I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.
