A vocational visit to Gateway Care
Our members, friends and family regularly join together to visit a business or workplace in the local community.  These 'Vocational Visits' are an excellent opportunity to share a common interest in worthwhile recreational activities, further our vocational development, make new friends, explore new opportunities for service, enhance the Rotary experience, and have fun.
So it was last Tuesday that we visited Gateway Care in West Caloundra.  Our Vocational Service Chair & President Elect, Bernie Strong arranged the visit and chaired the meeting.  James welcomed us all warmly.

September weekend away at Toogoolawah
On Saturday 30 September, the Queensland Governor will be coming to Toogoolawah to unveil a specially sculptured stag at our new art gallery.

Norm has commissioned a beautifully leather bound visitor's book for the gallery which the Governor will sign (first in the book, followed by Norm)

To cap it all off the Stag is named Norman!!

The history behind the deer is that Queen Victoria gave our town two deer and that is the reason for the sculpture.

Norm has a huge Toogoolawah connection and I'm wondering if Rotarians would like to support him on this special occasion.

I have yet to confirm the actual time for the ceremony but for those with caravans or any happy campers they are more than welcome to set up on my farm the Friday before.

We can work out the finer details a little later, Anna

Please let Anna know if you are interested by responding on the event page.

Broadway to Pavarotti
A fantastic show is coming to the Sunshine Coast.

As the only performance of its kind celebrating the life of Pavarotti performed by former Ten Tenor Roger Davy, the two hour show has had successful performances in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane.  Included in the show is Andrea Boccelli and Sarah Brightman’s Time to say Goodbye, La Traviata’s “ Brindisi" along the Famous Pearl Fishers Duet and the unforgettable “Nessun Dorma" along with the best of Broadway songs from shows like West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.

Featuring three of Queensland most talented performers, Broadway to Pavarotti is more than a recital of old favourites.  The show has a plot linking the songs and revealing the stories behind them.  Add to that, the light-hearted farce of the two tenors competing for the attention of the beautiful soprano and you have plenty of laughs and musical excellence.  A highlight of the night will be the famous tribute to his all-time favourite - Pavarotti.
