Woodford Prison
Oct 20, 2020
My family moved to Currimundi from Sydney in 1973 when I was three years old, apart from my time at university and my military service I have lived in Caloundra ever since.
I graduated from Caloundra High School in 1987 and joined the Regular Army at the end of 1988.
After five years, most of which I spent at 2/14th Light Horse Regt I went to QUT university and graduated with second class honours in History and Social Science. I then returned to the Sunshine Coast and went through a period of sporadic employment and even unemployment for almost 18 months I started working for Queensland Corrective Services in 1999 and have been an officer at the state's largest high security jail, Woodford Correctional Centre, these last 21 years. The job is not for the faint hearted but it also led me to meet my beautiful wife Justine, who worked at the centre as a psychologist. We were married in 2011 and I became a father for the first time on Feb 29th 2012. My 8 year old 'leap year boy' Liam has redefined my understanding of love and completely changed the way I think and view the world. Becoming a father later in life, at 42, is not without its challenges but it is easily the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. |

For more than 110 years, Rotary members have been addressing challenges around the world.
Grassroots at the core, Rotary links 1.2 million members to form an organization of international scope. It started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and give back to their communities.
Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of its members.
