For more than 110 years, Rotary members have been addressing challenges around the world.
Grassroots at the core, Rotary links 1.2 million members to form an organization of international scope. It started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and give back to their communities.
Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of its members.

My Life
May 03, 2022
Judene worked for the Department of Transport coordinating the Access Cab Subsidy Scheme – which supports older people and people with disabilities. She saw firsthand the difficulties that older people and people with a disability face, particularly with not having access to affordable and accessible transport. Judene then worked as a Community Advisor while studying for a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree. She worked closely with the Veteran Community and saw the impact that PTSD and mental health had on their lives. Judene went on to establish Volunteering Gold Coast — a volunteer resource and recruitment centre which is a valuable resource to the residents of the Gold Coast. Judene and her family have made the Sunshine Coast their home for the past 6 years. She is now the Environmental Sustainability Manager with a leading health and community services provider, where she is responsible for reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint, moving them toward 100% renewables and reducing organisational waste generation. |

The day her youngest daughter finished high school; Stella decided to get tertiary qualifications. She finished a Social Work degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2010 focusing her studies in Cultural Diversity and History of Migrations. Stella has been working as a Multicultural Worker for Caloundra Community Centre since 2016 and now she is based at Baringa Community Centre working for both centres. She is passionate about cultural diversity and how culture shapes us as human beings. Her main role is providing information, assistance and support to individuals, families and communities who frequently do not access mainstream services due to their migrant visa’s status. Also, she provides education to the mainstream community about challenges that migrants face in their journey of settlement and integration. Stella loves to be surrounded by people having interesting conversations, particularly with her six grandchildren who range from 12 to two. Stella loves knitting, swimming at the beach, movies and event planning. She has had the same partner for 48 years, they survived together their children’s teenage years and the challenges of migration. These are her most impressive achievements! |
