Hive Haven
Sep 06, 2022
I farm both European honey bees and Australian native bees. I have a passion for bee hive innovation and technology. The time is right for the industry to innovate and take a different direction in bee hive design. We need to prepare for climate change in order to keep both our honey and native bees safe.

Days for Girls
Jan 24, 2023
My name is Hazel Overfield and until three years ago lived in the little country town of Boonah where I worked for 12 years as a Teacher Aide at the High School. I Have spent about 30 years working with students with disabilities and challenges and loved every minute of it. I started a Days for Girls team in 2013 which has grown stronger each year and is producing hundreds of kits that are sent around the world. On retirement to Caloundra, 3 years ago, I joined Days for Girls Mooroochydore and have been part of the team, again, producing many kits that have made their way to Fiji. 2023 will see this team scale back its operation due to a few factors and I am convinced that another team needs to be established here in Caloundra with some enthusiastic friends ready to take up the challenge.I have been passionate about Days for Girls since it was established here in Australia and believe that the need is still huge and so much more can be done to alleviate the suffering and alienation of so many girls and women around the world. I hope this simple but effective presentation will inform, perhaps shock some of you but ultimately speak to your hearts, spreading the word is our first step together should you wish to partner with this vital charity. Thank you from all the girls!

This Story Australia
Feb 14, 2023
Jeff Hughes has had over 20 years experience as an educator across multiple levels of institutions across South-East Queensland. Lecturing in Film and Television Production in 2016, Jeff identified that something was missing in our fast-paced, stressful, deadline driven community. Something that harkened back to simpler days, and a time when qualities like morality and integrity were valued by the vast majority of us. Jeff believes that connection is one thing that can change society for the better today. Through a series of fortunate friendships and opportunities, Jeff has used his media expertise in Documentary Film to pull the community closer together by curating personal documentary interviews of our veterans. He believes that everyone has a story to tell, a yarn to spin and a laugh to share - and by stopping to listen, we can emotionally connect with others. Connection happens through shared experiences and although we personally may not know what it is like to lose a mate on the battlefield, or have the adrenaline pump through our veins as we land in a chopper in a hostile land - we all know what loss feels like. We all know that nervous feeling in our stomach or the stress of work deadlines. By preserving and sharing our stories in film we can provide rich memories for families, comment on the always evolving history of our nation and begin to address our traumas as we take the first step in the healing process - sharing our story. |

For more than 110 years, Rotary members have been addressing challenges around the world.
Grassroots at the core, Rotary links 1.2 million members to form an organization of international scope. It started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and give back to their communities.
Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of its members.
