Rotary International is a Service Club and I love how it serves the Community not only locally but worldwide.  I would like to say though that I wish our politicians would take it upon themselves to look at the Rotarian Code of Conduct and follow it through in their professional life serving their constituents in in the way they promised to do when they were sworn in. If we, as Rotarians can do it, why can’t they.   I am sure our Country would be situated in a better position.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF
Act with integrity and high ethical standards in personal and professional life.
Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect.
Use their professional skills to mentor young people, help those with special needs, and help improve people’s quality of life in the community.
Avoid behaviour that reflects adversely on the position that they hold in the Community.
Back to our busy little Club and what is happening.  Get well wishes go out to President Elect Chris as he has spent a little time in hospital, and to Kath as she too is spending a little time in hospital as well.  Our very best wishes to you both for a speedy recovery.

Tuesday’s meeting went very well with the official presentation of $2214 to Peter Ryan representing Vinnies who was one of the recipients of monies raised on our Golf Day.  He thanked the Club sincerely and indicated where the monies will be allocated.

Very Special Birthday wishes to our nonagenarian Alan Still who celebrated his birthday on 30 April and also to his beautiful wife Win who celebrated her birthday on 28 April.  It was also my Mum’s 90th Birthday on 30 April.  It was a very Special Weekend as it was the first time that the family came together as a whole and some to meet for the very first time.  A really beautiful weekend.

James gave us and update on our upcoming Car Boot Sale this will be held on 1 June.  Please everyone promote this fundraiser. Tell your family, friends, neighbours and ask your local businesses to put a poster in their window to promote this event.  The monies raised will be supporting our Community in many ways.

Mark and Irish will be away for approximately 6 weeks and he spoke to us saying that they will be taking second hand eyeglasses with them to the Medical Clinic at Bohol.

Don’t forget TOOMOO Finish Line Barbecue on this Saturday, 4 May at Mooloolaba.  The more volunteers the better it will be and I thank you in advance for helping out.  It is a first for us and we will be raising a few extra $$$$$ to put back into our Community.

Wednesday 22 May is the Combined Clubs meeting at the University so please make an effort to attend as we won’t be having a meeting on the at Oaks on the 21 May.  We will need volunteers to sell Raffle tickets on the night and the prizes that Merv, Pam, Kath, Gerry, Mark, Deb and Sue have brought in are extremely worthwhile.

The Club has been invited to Chloe’s send-off BBQ in June, more about that later.

Although we only had a small attendance it was a morning full of fun and fellowship.

Deb outdid herself as acting Sergeant and we all had a good laugh.

I wish you all a wonderful rest of the week and enjoy life to the fullest as you don’t know what tomorrow may bring.
