My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful band of volunteers Noel and Olive Begley, Alan Bethune, Anne Boland, Ann Rattle, Pam Snyman, Judy Clark, Merv and Anne Paddison, Gerry Swan, Les Walsh, Megyn Carpenter, Ana Carolina and our stand in Charmaine Wheatley who diligently sat outside Golden Beach Newsagent and Westpac in Bulcock Street selling Trifecta tickets for the Melbourne Cup.  A wonderful effort, as they sold all that they had by Monday morning.  To top it off the winner was Graeme Bowden from the BookShop at Caloundra.  Graeme has always supported us in our fundraising ventures even though he is a member of the Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific.  Congratulations Graeme.  I am hoping that Graeme will be able to attend our breakfast on Tuesday morning so that I can present him with his prize.

Thank you to Judy and her team for the wonderful work together with Lisa from The Travel Agent in organising our Melbourne Cup Luncheon at Pelican Waters Tavern.  The atmosphere was electric and all who attended were not disappointed with the great company, the food and of course the great race.  Congratulations to those who had a win either on the Cup or the great selection of prizes for the raffles.

On a more serious note, I would like to remind one and all that this coming Sunday, 11 November is Armistice Day.  It is 100 years since the guns became silent in World War 1.  Let us remember those brave boys, men and women who fought to keep this country a free nation and hope that in coming years they will not be forgotten, that they gave their lives so that we could live in peace in this wonderful country.  To all our Veterans we say thank you.

This coming Tuesday we will be once again hearing from our Rotary Youth Exchange student Chloé Méar.  She will be giving us an update on what has been happening since she first stepped on Australian soil.  Looking forward to it Chloe.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday morning at Oaks
