President Bernie presided at our meeting on 13 November.  She welcomed our guest speaker and Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Chloé Méar along with Mark and Irish freshly returned from the Philippines.
Mark gave thank you letters to all who contributed to the gift parcels that he took to the SACH Orphanage in Bohol as part of our project there.  See details of the project here.  A full presentation will be made by Mark & Darryl at the earliest opportunity.
President Bernie's announcements included:
 
  • Thanks to the Melbourne Cup Trifecta sellers, especially Jim Lombard who was responsible for selling tickets totalling over $250.  The prize-winner was Graeme Bowden of The Bookshop at Caloundra (see story here) who will be with us next Tuesday to collect his winnings.  The Trifecta should have raised at least $2,648 for the club's project account - details here
  • Our Christmas Party will be held on 15 December at Sue's.  $10 a head BYO - register here
  • Genta & James will be arranging the transport to DIK of desks 7 chairs donated by Caloundra Primary School.  DIK is currently relocating - see story here
  • Calpac has given advance notice of the combined clubs Trivia Challenge supporting ROMAC on 7 March.

  • Merv spoke about our Annual General Meeting to be held on 4 December.  The main business will be adoption of the Financial Accounts and the Election of Officers for 2019-20.  Speak to President Elect Chris if you would like to fill one of the many positions available.
  • Gordon told us that 11 holes had been sold - including one by Opal donated by Norm.  He is hopeful that the remaining seven holes will go shortly.  Details soon.
  • Helen bid us her farewell in anticipation of her & Peter's move to Brisbane in about two weeks time.  Hopefully that is not the last time we will see her, as she will be a regular visitor to the coast which may give her the opportunity to make-up with us.
  • Judy advised that members can attend the Currimundi Special School's concert at the Entertainment Centre on 27 November; the Rotary Youth Exchange Safari lunch will be co-sponsored by us & Calpac on 10 December at Currimundi Lakes; and the Melbourne Cup lunch is anticipated to have raised around $2,000 for drought relief via RC Longreach
  • Chris told of his two make-ups to the RC of Consett & Washington during his stay in England
  • Deb told of her visits to RC Wexford
