For the International Toast, Gerry toasted the Rotary Club of Tokyo.  The statistics even sounded pretty accurate, although we missed the simultaneous translation in Japanese.
James gave us the low down on the Car Boot Sale to be held on the 1st June at the Salvation Army

Bernie delivered the President's Report

  • A great Vocational at the Centaur Memorial last week.  Thanks to Darryl, Deborah & Anne. John & Janice Groves and Anne Wensley have donated books.
  • We are doing a BBQ this Saturday for the end of the Toowoomba/Mooloolaba Bike Ride. 2:30 to 5:30 at Mooloolaba near the Surf Club. 150 burgers - we should raise $998. Helpers needed.
  • This Thursday afternoon  - function at USC - naming of the Paul Thomas Library.
  • RUSCSF Combined Dinner at the university on 22nd May  - we are doing the raffle.  We are transferring our meeting so there is no Rotary meeting on the 21st. $30pp - catering by USC - RSVP to Merv or Deborah.
  • SSC Police Person of the year presentation at Surf Air Resort Wed 8th May
  • NYSF - application close 31st May - we have two applicants - one is Kath's grand daughter
  • Pam - Chloé's farewell 22nd June - BYO BBQ - RSVP Bronwyn Butler.

Chris had a cardiac event yesterday at home, but is "OK" and "comfortable". Went to Nambour Hospital - Best wishes Chris.
Ian introduced Peter Ryan from Vinnies
Peter thanked us for the donation from our Golf Day proceeds.  The money will go towards their educational program which helps families in getting ready for school. They helped 100 families last year - an empowering experience - A "hand up" not a "hand out".
Mark & Irish away for 6 weeks - will visit Bohol Orphanage with cartons of eye glasses. Encyclopedias needed for DIK - will investigate "Teacher in a Box"
