Our meeting last week was moved to the Innovation Centre at the University of the Sunshine Coast for the annual presentation of scholarships by the Rotary and the University of the Sunshine Coast Community Fund - RUSCCF.
There 22 of us joined Caloundra Pacific (25), Maleny, Mooloolaba and the other Sunshine Coast Rotary Clubs to hear from the 2018 RUSCCF Scholarship recipients, Andre Allen, Makeely Blandford and Joanne Boon.
The Rotary Club of Glasshouse Mountains was recognised as a Platinum donor (over $20,000 - joining Mooloolaba).  All Rotary clubs were recognised as they handed over their 2018 donations.

The Guest Speaker was Captain Jan Becker who is well known and respected in the aviation industry as CEO of Becker Helicopters Group and has been recognised with multiple honours.

Aviation is not Jan’s only passion, as a trained nurse and midwife, she is committed to improving the health of women and babies in some of the world’s most under-resourced countries and volunteers two to three times a year in the labour ward in Amana hospital in Tanzania and trains local midwives in neonatal resuscitation.   She spoke passionately about her work as a midwife and of her family foundation, Midwife Vision in Neonatal Resuscitation.  Learn more about Jan here and here.
