Objective
To provide 15 boxes of eyewear from Lions organised by Charmaine to be delivered to Shepherds Arms Children’s Home (SACH)'s new medical centre.  First instalment in May 2019.

Project Summary
SACH has built a medical centre for both the children and local community.  They will have visiting doctors, dentists and optometrists.  So the eye glasses will be professionally dispensed. The project is being coordinated by a Filipino doctor who works at Royal Brisbane Hospital.

No significant costs incurred.

Project Implementation
Charmaine (a friend of Caloundra Rotary) has organised volunteer trips to Africa that included many LIONS.  She has delivered 20,000 pairs of spectacles to Africa and had some left over; she asked whether SACH could use them.  Of course she knew about the Lions Recycle for Sight Centre and sourced the additional boxes for this project - as well as 10,000 glass cleaning cloths from another source.

The first batch of boxes have been transported to Manila in baggage allowance and then freighted them to SACH in Bohol.  The eyeglasses have now arrived at SACH.

The remainder of the 15 boxes are planned for shipping in October 2019.
