Humanitarian Projects - Shepherds Arms

Dr Rizsa Albarracin was born and raised in a remote and impoverished village in a tropical jungle in the Philippines. She used to walk barefoot several kilometres each way through the jungle to get to school. Through sheer determination, faith, courage, and diligence, Rizsa trekked her way out of poverty and now devotes her time in improving the lives of many disadvantaged children in Philippines and in other parts of the world.

She also sits on the Management Committee of the Humanitarian Projects International Inc., a Brisbane-based

not-for-profit that exists to serve the underprivileged in parts of Africa and Asia by raising funds and sending volunteers to build schools, medical clinics, shelters, and livelihood infrastructure.

She completed her university degrees in New Zealand (Victoria University of Wellington) and in Australia (Australian National University).

Rizsa currently works for Queensland Health and is also affiliated with University of Queensland as an adjunct research fellow. She loves travelling, theology, photography, classical music, nature, doughnuts, and puppies.
