Beach Clean-Up at Golden Beach | End-of-Year Activity

Good afternoon, My name is Ellen Porter and I am a project officer with Conservation Volunteers Australia. My role is to educate and engage people from all walks of life to help care for the environment, particularly our marine wildlife through our current initiative, the #SeaToSource. #SeaToSource tackles ocean litter in our seas, through beach clean-ups, and all the way to the source. We know beach clean-ups are one way to reduce plastics in our oceans, but we know they’re not the solution, so we work with communities along waterways and in catchments to identify and reduce the sources of pollution in our towns and cities, before it flows into the ocean and causes harm to the animals that call it home. We are running a beach clean-up at Golden Beach, Caloundra on Saturday 11th December from 09:45 – 13:00PM which I believe could be a fantastic opportunity for your members to get outdoors and connect with nature! All equipment including litter pickers, hessian bags and high-vis vests are supplied on the day as well as sunscreen, insect repellent and hand sanitiser. All you’ll need to do is wear enclosed shoes, a long-sleeve shirt, long pants, hat, gloves and bring your water bottles.
