Mark took the floor as Chair and mini-presenter to talk about our next exhibition to Bohol.  He is looking for sponsors for the backpacks ($25) and needs instruction from the Teacher in the Box project so he can educate the children and others in Bohol.  Follow these links to the website and Facebook page.  Mark plans to take at least one laptop ($300) and six or seven devices ($100) to Bohol.

PDG Alan proposed the International Toast to the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh, Cambodia in Rotary District 3350.  Learn more at the club's website.

It looks like winter is coming to an end as Ken prepares to return to Morwell, Vic after next week's meeting.  He was welcomed along with Irish, Charmaine & Ian.

Volunteering at DIK

Saturday 5 October is the day that our Sunshine South Cluster has been allocated to volunteer at the Donations in Kind site in Kingston to pack containers.  DIK is part of RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service).  Each club has been asked to provide 2-3 volunteers for the day.  Genta will be coordinating our involvement.

District Directories

The 2019-20 District Directory is now available.  Directors will be given a hard copy but the rest of us will need to go on-line (they do cost a fortune to print even a limited number).

The main part of the directory can be downloaded from this link.

There is a separate contact directory for club and district officers which can be downloaded from the Members Area of the District website.  Once you have logged in, go to this page.

Japanese Festival

Genta announced that more than 7,000 people attended the Japanese Festival at Meridan State College.  Gross revenue was around $14,000.

Despite the success of the day, he is looking for an alternate venue (Kawana State School which has a Japanese Garden or Kings Beach).

Mark is suggesting that in 2020 there could be greater awareness of Caloundra Rotary by providing other than a static stand.  Also in 2020, the Rotary Club of Komaki is planning to visit.

Thanks from Bernie

Mark read Bernie's letter of thanks for the club's sympathy and support in the loss of her mother.
