Angie Mansey, Charity Directyor/Founder of Driven By KM, was our guest speaker this morning.   Driven by daunting personal experiences surrounding their son Corbin,  the charity Driven By KM is dedicated to developing support services, in response to the needs of Sunshine Coast based families that have a medically complex child with life threatening medical conditions within their family unit.   Its fundraising events are sponsored by Kuluin Mufflers - the business that arose from the desperation Ang & Luke and their family faced.

This was one of the most passionate presentations the club has heard in recent times.

If you want to learn more about this worthy cause, go to the Driven By KM website or Facebook Page.

Deb chaired our meeting and welcomed visitors, Brian Wallace (moving from RC Nowra, NSW) and our speaker.  Brian has recently purchased a new home in Pelican Waters.

Past Governor, Alan proposed the International Toast to the Rotary Club of Istanbul, Turkey.

President's  Announcements

Freshly returned from the UK but not quite running on all fours, Chris said he had visited the RC of Hexham with 42 members and an average age of 74.

Kath has moved to rehab and is in good spirits but her return to full energetic health is likely to be protracted.

Our 'full' Calendar of Events and our 'busy-ness' along with the importance of family was the subject of some thought by Chris.

He reminded us that 12 September is R U OK? Day (more information), World Polio Day is 24 October but the planned World Polio Day walk has been postponed probably until 1 March, and that RC Mooloolaba's Walk for Mental Health is on 13 October.
