We were out and about early this morning at Ben Bennett Park to meet Governor Darryl Iseppi of our Rotary District 9600 who - judging by his shirt - is headed to Hawaii for Rotary's International Convention in June.
DG Darryl briefed us on the fact that polio is now restricted to three small regions. He was educated on the club's association with Ben Bennett Park by Mark, and Roger joined the class to hear about the history and nature of the park.
Visitors
A number of visitors joined us including Simon Jago, Ian Aspinall, Sophie Empson who is being sponsored to the National Youth Science Form (NYSF), Assistant Governor Wendy Gilson, and Lexley Roberts. It was good that Kath Aspinall joined us in her braces as she continues to recuperate.
President's Announcements
He reminded us of the forthcoming series of BBQs at Aura 17 November, 24 November, 8 December, 29 December, 19 January. These are short two hour events (ignoring setup and setdown) to provide (not sell) sausages and drinks for which the club will gross $800; they also provide an opportunity for welcomers to showcase Caloundra Rotary to this new community. See all the details here and volunteer your time please.
Other Announcements
Judy was seeking volunteers for the Bunnings BBQ on 27 November - if you can help, click here to volunteer.
