Fundraising include a black pool and charity golf day
They are the second largest city in Papua New Guinea and now have a brand-new Chinese airport
The club was charted in 1959

Deborah delivered the President’s Report
 
  • Our 70th birthday bash at Ben Bennett Park is on 12 October – Deborah got a good deal for breakfast through Murray – it will be at 9:30 for 10:10 and cost $25
  • The Big Dig proposed for Caloundra is modelled on the Rotary Club of Macquarie – they dig for tokens but Roger reckons we can do better – plastic skeletons anyone? - we will need sponsors and prizes
  • Counsellor Terry Landsberg has been approached to become a patron of the club
  • Deborah discuss the article in Qweekend in the Courier Mail - About Brisbane Boys College prefect Mason Black who called out society’s "ingrained rate culture" and also his own schools part of it – oops Roger went to Brisbane Boys College
 
Jim updated us on the Bohol project – a booster pump is on the way to complete the installation. Dexter will install it – there is still no gas. It needs encouragement.
 
Darryl noted that for overseas projects maintenance is not generally a Rotary responsibility

Bob is meeting with the Guidance officer at Meridan State College RYTS is Rotary Youth Transitional Seminar, and of course there is also RYPEN, Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment
 
Elaine noted that we are still short of guest speakers

Sergeant Richard told us how he grew up – apparently he lived in a cardboard box
 
Chris is looking for old bicycles to bring back to life for Rotary
