And so, this is it, my final week of a busy year as President of our great Club.

I must say, I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience and at the same time am consciously grateful for the assistance and support received from others.

I'll be the first to admit that I was still a raw recruit when thrust into the top job.  It's been a learning curve along the way, however I can safely say we have achieved some great things as a Club.

Obviously I will elaborate more in my end of year Report, but suffice as to say, I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the Members of the Board.  Your participation in our Meetings and with your relevant committees and projects is what has kept our Club the success it is.

Unfortunately, due to a career change and subsequent working away, I've been unable to attend a number of Meetings at the back end of the year.  Let me assure you, however, I've had my nose to the Rotary grindstone in the background.

I would however, like to especially thank our President Elect, Bernie, who has stepped up to the plate in my absence.  I'd like to also take the opportunity to wish Bernie, a successful year as President when she takes over in July.  Bernie has had numerous years of experience in Rotary and that, along with the support I know she'll receive, will ensure our Club continues to grow in strength.

I'd also like to thank each of you, our Members, without whom we would have no Club.  Thank you for you support at Service Projects, attendance at Meetings and Socials and any other contribution you've made to Rotary and in particular to our Club.

As you know, we are currently undergoing some changes, in consultation with all Members, via recommendations from the Board, to safeguard the future of our Club.  The most frightening factor we are faced with is the fact that less than 20% of our Members are under 60 years of age.  As our older Members become non-active, we have to come up with ways to attract new Members.

The Board is involving all Members in the discussion forums we've had so far.  We are taking all options into account and will continue to work on the best solution for the Club, going forward.  The fact that we are listening and not implementing change without consultation, demonstrates transparency and the solidarity of our Club.

Thank you again for a special year, and I'll see you at the Changeover Dinner, where we hand over the reins to Bernie.
