We wanted to share with you an update on what our District has been doing and some ideas on how Rotarians can continue to assist those dealing with the consequences and challenges of the bushfires.
Hi Wendy,

Subject: Bush Fire Containers

Hi Neil

Sorry I haven’t responded to this earlier.  It’s been a crazy couple of weeks with our first Board Meeting and DLT Meetings, and a whole heap of changeovers, etc.

I have been involved with our Bushfire Recovery as the Governor Elect with Community Service Chair, Sue Foley who is copied in on this email.  Essendon North and other Clubs have worked with our District Bushfire Relief team.  The team have given our Clubs a turnkey solution through a matching grant scheme that has utilized the $600K+ we have raised through public donations with partnership with Bendigo Bank.

We’ve also worked with our two neighbouring Districts most affected by the bushfires to ensure that their regions were supported with a number of containers and refurbished caravans being provided to those who lost their homes.

Having said this, we are in the middle of transitioning from one containers supplier to another.  When the arrangement is reached, Sue will send out the details to you for your information and use.  Attached is a report that explains our Bushfire recovery work to date.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday on Zoom.

Best regards

Philip
