Why I wanted to attend NYSF

The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) has been operating for over 30 years and its aim is to encourage young Australians to be the next generation of leading scientists, engineers and mathematics experts supporting a sustainable future for our nation.  Students moving into Year 12 who wish to follow careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are introduced to research and researchers and encouraged to achieve excellence in their undertakings by helping to develop their communication and interpersonal skills.

Our last meeting
Todd Zemek is a clinical psychologist and relationship therapist with 25 years experience. He is an author, public speaker, and one of the founders of the Step Up Your Life Centre on the Sunshine Coast.  We learnt about the four personality styles - The Carer, The Hero, The Perfectionist & The Boxer - styles of relating people that empower people to generate more creative opportunities for dynamic connections that work!

Shindig weekend
By all accounts, the Shindig at Toogoolawah was a resounding social success.  Darryl and Judy (among others) reported in detail, but unfortunately your editor did not record the detail and a report has not been submitted for publication.  What did happen was that $375 was raised for 'Our House'.  Well done!

Successful BBQ at Aura Central
Many thanks to our intrepid BBQ team at Aura on Sunday afternoon.  A great effort, like a BBQ at Bunnings compressed into an hour and a half.  It looks like we cleared over $700 profit and the good people of Aura contributed in excess of $110 for the Bushfire Appeal.

We have all seen the disastrous fires that have erupted, taking lives as well as destroying hundreds of homes and properties across Australia.
 
Rotary Australia is once again taking the lead and looking to provide support for families in need.  Several Rotary Districts and Clubs have established projects which are ready and able to accept donations from you.
