The Rotary Club of Bo, Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is a country on the southwest coast of West Africa.  It is bordered by Liberia to the southeast and Guinea to the northeast.  It has a population of 7,075,641.

There are three Rotary clubs in Sierra Leone; , two are in the capital Freetown and the other at Bo - the second largest city in Sierre Leone, with a population 175,000.

The club - chartered in 1988 - has 17 members and meets at 5pm on Wednesdays at Fair View Lodge, Bo/Taiama Highway, Kebbie Town - Bo, Bo, Sierra Leone.

One of the club's major projects was construction of a 21 bed hospital, the Bo Children's Hospital,  with major help from the Rotary Club of Turramurra, Sydney, Australia,  and others.  The Rotary Club of Bo is highly active within the local community and was responsible for the construction of the hospital.  Initially the club ran the hospital but has now transferred ownership to the local community and has a representative on the hospital's community management board.

Rotary 100 Down Under

Rotary 100 Down Under

It’s a special time. Rotary in Australia and NZ celebrates the First 100 years of Service in 2021.

In 1921, four Rotary Clubs were created in Melbourne, Auckland, Wellington and Sydney. From there, Rotary and Rotaract clubs were created everywhere across Australia and NZ. We all share a centenary in 2021. We can come together and create a common legacy. Think about the impact we can make!

It's the time to discover what is the best way to mark the occasion! And create a legacy that propels Rotary into the next century of service. This is so important – we will not have another chance in our lifetime!

We have a plan to make people aware, capture ideas of what we can do and enlist willing players in a part of history. We have constructed a toolkit to help Rotary leaders to help build that story. That's what this website is about. You can also join us on Facebook.

More volunteer opportunities at Aura

P3 Events have invited us to provide a series of community BBQs at Aura on a Sunday afternoon in November, December & January (dates below).

The events will provide 150-200 free serves of sausages in bread and cold drinks including soft drink and water.

For this the club will receive a donation.

The 'selling' times are 4 or 4.30 to 6pm with setup and set down required before and after (details in the links).

In addition to the BBQ team, we are also asking for volunteers to act as 'welcomers' as each event is an opportunity to promote Caloundra Rotary.

We would like you to volunteer now to facilitate our planning and so we know who is available.  RSVP via the links below.
