Meet DG Wendy next Tuesday

Wendy Protheroe is the Governor of Rotary District 9600 for 2018-19.  She is a member of the Rotary Club of Brisbane High Rise.

Wendy began her career as a special education teacher where she developed her belief   that everyone should be given the chance to enjoy their abilities. Then as Director of Early intervention Services she worked with terminally ill children and their families and learnt the importance of being flexible in understanding differences and keeping end goals in mind.

As her children reached adolescence Wendy extended her career and spent seven years as TAFE Director at Gympie/Sunshine Coast and then Ipswich before being transferred to the Government’s Economic Development Portfolio. During that role she became the Queensland Director for the 2000 Olympic Games where she honed skills of working with high profile business, sports people and politicians, making focussed decisions and working to deadlines.

A few words from President Bernie
Just a few words from the President’s Chair.

When I was asked to consider becoming President of the Rotary Club of Caloundra for the 2018-19 year I asked myself what could I contribute to the Club and to Rotary if I was to accept.

All I could think of was contributing to the Community.

With the help of the Rotary Club of Caloundra this can be achieved, not by investing many dollars but by lending a hand, a kind word, an offer of help, looking at the big picture and giving time to make the life of someone less fortunate a little easier.

Our International President Barry Rassin’s theme for this year is to BE THE INSPIRATION.
So look at the 4 Way test on a daily basis and say to yourself.

1.    Is it the Truth
2.    Is it Fair to all concerned
3.    Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships
4.    Will it be Beneficial to all concerned.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week.
Last week's meeting
We give thanks for the worldwide fellowship of Rotary, good food and friendship.
May we fulfil our Creed and place Service above Self in our daily endeavours.
That was the Invocation suggested by James & Merv for our consideration and repeated this morning.
President Bernie was in the Chair in a slightly removed room at our venue.  She again welcomed Ana Carolina and her desire to become a member shortly.

Past Governor Alan Still proposed the first of our Toasts to an Australian Rotary Club - which will be a feature of our meeting on the first Tuesday of the month.  The International Toast will he given on the third Tuesday.  So we were introduced to the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria - the home of Immediate Past World President, Ian Risely.

President Bernie then announced:
