Our Last Meeting
Today's meeting was expertly chaired by Ian who first off welcomed guests:

AG Wendy
Irish
Chairmaine from the Rotary E-Club of South Africa One & the Sunshine Coast Rotary Community Corps
Ken from RC Morwell
and of course our guest speaker Ray Krebs from the NBN

The International Toast was given by Alan to RC Halifax in Nova Scotia, District 7820

Unfortunately, in this instance he was only given 9/10 because he forgot to mention Peggy's Point Lighthouse, which sits dominantely on their logo, albeit repainted in Rotary colours, and with real life not able to replicate the weather conditions shown.  And he missed the "not to be missed" gingerbread at the nearby Sou'Wester Restaurant

Transitioning to Rotary District 9620
Following the decision of the Board of Rotary International in April 2018 our Rotary International Districts – 9640, 9630 and 9600 – are merging to become Rotary District 9620 as of 1 July 2021.

Much has been done – and there is still much to be done.  At the Club level I really do believe the majority of the ongoing work of the Clubs will continue – and we will continue to work to decide how we will operate as a District.

Rotary's Areas of Focus
The Rotary Foundation has changed the names of three areas of focus (marked with asterisks) to better reflect the types of projects that Rotary members carry out.

The six areas of focus are:

  • Peacebuilding and conflict prevention*
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene*
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Community economic development*

Some of the areas of focus goals have also changed.  You’ll find new activities related to the environment in the updated Areas of Focus Policy Statements.

MARK THESE DATES IN YOUR DIARY

The Rotary Club of Caloundra - in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Rotary Community Corps and Rotaract Club of the Sunshine Coast -  is proud to support the Currimundi Lake Community Clean Up on 20 October.  Hosted by Ocean Crusaders and supported by Unitywater along with multiple other local environment groups, the Currimundi Lake Community Clean Up is on 20 October to help prevent disease and debris from being washed into our oceans.

Click here for full details of this event and the registration link.

Will you join us?

Also, we have been invited to promote the Clean Up at the Currimundi Twilight Markets on 20 September & 18 October and would ask you to join us in that promotion too.

Being visible will also increase Rotary/Rotaract awareness in the community!

Please join us for an hour or two on the banks of the lake to help make a difference in our community and our planet!

Full details of these events are on facebook.  The club's Facebook page for the event is rotary.cleanup
