Our Location

Located at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, the Rotary Club of Caloundra is part of Rotary District 9600, an area that covers part of South-East Queensland, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Nauru.

The Sunshine Coast had a population of 323,423 as at 30 June 2009 (Source).  The 2011 census showed that 48,893 lived within our postal code area (4551) with a median age of 43 and a mix of retirees and young professional families.  Continuing development means that the area will continue to grow. The Lighthouse
The former Caloundra lighthouses are high on the hill in Canberra Terrace and are a significant landmark.  The 1896 Lighthouse is the oldest surviving building in the Caloundra township.

One of our members is actively involved in the Friends of Caloundra Lighthouses.

The Reel
The Reel (our weekly Bulletin) links the Rotary Club of Caloundra to the Surf Life Saving movement and specifically to the beaches of our area, particularly the Surf Life Saving Clubs at Metropolitan Caloundra, Ithaca - Caloundra City, and Dicky Beach.

Meeting Details

We have regular club meetings, most Tuesday mornings (see the details on the left of this page).  We like to generally feature a guest speaker (check our calendar for details).  Often the speakers are from outside the club but at times we hear from one of our own members.  The meetings are often suited for non-Rotarian guests.  Some meetings take the form of a Club Assembly: these regular assemblies do not have a guest speaker but are used to engage the Board, Committees and other members.

The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships and states:

"Of the things we think, say or do -

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
We honour the work of Rotary clubs around the world through our International Toast: at each meeting, one of our club members gives a brief talk on another club and we toast the work they do for their local communities.
