Bio Toilets in India

Bhubaneswar is the capital of the Indian state of Odisha.  It is the largest city in Odisha and is a centre of economic and religious importance in Eastern India.  Bhubaneswar is often referred to as a "Temple City of India".
But ..... there are 338 unauthorised slums in Bhubaneswar  - many households do not have toilets and a few who have sanitary toilets have no drainage, water and maintenance facilities!!
Caloundra Rotary - in conjunction with others - has received approval by The Rotary Foundation for a Global Grant to provide the major part of the US$31,500  project cost to provide 40 bio toilets in 20 urban slums.  Completion of the project is likely by November 2018.
Commitment by the Rotary Club of Caloundra US$5,250

Japanese Peace Garden

A place of reflection and inspiration with a blend of Australian and Japanese plants is being planned within Coochin Park at Dicky Beach.
It will incorporate an educational component for visitors - a reminder that there are six Rotary Peace Centres around the world, including Brisbane and Tokyo.  Those two centres demonstrate the modern link between Australia and Japan.
Project in preliminary planning stage     Commitment by Calloundra Rotary hard to estimate at this stage

Charity Golf Day

Caloundra Rotary's Annual 'Charity Golf Day' event is our flagship fundraiser.  In 2018, we had over 140 golfers from around the Sunshine Coast play at Pelican Waters Golf Club.  We are proud to have been able to raise over $40,000 over the last three years for SunnyKids and other causes supported by the Rotary Club of Caloundra.
Pelican Waters Golf Club is home to the Sunshine Coast’s first ever Greg Norman designed Golf Course and the venue for the golf day.
We are looking forward to the 2019 Charity Golf Day and welcoming new major beneficiaries.
Swimming Scholarships
Fewer pre-school and primary school aged children cannot swim and there were 19 deaths from drowning last year in Queensland.
Caloundra Rotary is hoping to partner with one or more Sunshine Coast swim schools to help bridge the gap for needy families with children that need to learn how to swim.

The Sunshine Coast Photographic Competition is now open to school children living on the Sunshine Coast.
The theme of the inaugural competition will cover two categories - Animals & Natural Environment.
Each category will be divided into school years.
