Rules & Guidelines

  1. The 2020 Sunshine Coast Rotary Children's Photographic Competition is open to school children living on the Sunshine Coast.
  2. All photos are to be taken locally on the Sunshine Coast, or in South East Queensland.
  3. Preferred image type is JPG, the size of the image should be as large as possible, and the image should be of the best quality possible.
  4. Instructions on how to upload your photos will be advised in the confirmation of receipt of your entry fee by Trybooking.
  5. Payment of the entry fee will entitle the entry of four (4) photos in total across all categories.
  6. Multiple entries are acceptable after payment of an additional entry fee, but only one entry per computer session.
  7. The category you may enter must be in your age group as at the date of entry.
  8. Entries in excess of the first four photos per Booking ID will be rejected.
  9. Entries without a Booking ID shown will also be rejected.
  10. Winners will be notified by email or phone. We will try both these methods of communication and if we have not had a response from the winner within a two week period, we will choose a new winner.
  11. A winner will be chosen in each Photo Category by Age Group.  In addition, a runner-up will be announced.
  12. All entrants consent to Caloundra Rotary using the photographs on any website or in any social media at its discretion, using photo credit where applicable.  The copyright ownership of all submitted images remains with the photographer.
  13. The prizes for each category by age group are gift vouchers  ($100 winners, $50 runners-up) redeemable at Garricks Camera House Maroochydore, free tuition by professional photographer, Barry Alsop, and a canvass voucher provided by Garricks Camera House Maroochydore.  Caloundra Rotary reserves the right to vary the prizes at its discretion. 
  14. The canvass sizes donated by Garricks Camera House Maroochydore will be: 50x76 cm for the winners, and 40x50 cm for the runners up, but the actual size will depend on image quality.
  15. All winning photos will be highlighted on Caloundra Rotary's Flickr competition page, on other Flickr pages, and in social media at our discretion.
  16. The winners' photographs will be displayed at Garricks Camera House Maroochydore and at the presentation evening.
  17. Prizes will be presented or sent by registered mail to the winners. 
  18. To win a prize, photos must be submitted by the specified date.  Entries submitted after this date will not be eligible to win any prize.  In exceptional circumstances, late entries may be accepted by the organisers.
  19. Entries that depict any of the things below will not be accepted and could lead to your photo being deleted and being blocked from Caloundra Rotary's Flickr page
  20. If a photo chosen as the winning photo is found to not belong to an entrant, or if it was entered by a person outside that age group, a new winner will be chosen.
  21. No third party or commercial gallery may enter a photograph on behalf of an entrant.
  22. An official entry form must be completed by each entrant.  The digitally submitted entry form is evidence of the entrant's consent to these Rules.
  23. The decision of the Adjudicator/s appointed by the Rotary Club of Caloundra will be FINAL and no discussion will be entered into on individual entries.
  24. The Rotary Club of Caloundra reserves the right and discretion to:
    • extend the closing date of the competition
    • cancel the competition at any time for any reason
    • amend these conditions at any time

Unacceptable Entries

None of these types of photos are eligible to be entered in the competition:
 
  • Abuse or violence of any kind
  • Sexually explicit photos
  • Racially offensive photos
  • Any photos that a student has not taken, that they do not own, that are protected by copyright by another person or entity, or were not taken on the Sunshine Coast or in South East Queensland.

Categories for the 2020 Competition

  • Animals and/or Environment : ages up to less than 12 years
  • Animals and/or Environment : 12 to less than15 years
  • Animals and/or Environment: 15 years plus
  • Portraits : ages up to less than 12 years
  • Portraits : 12 to less than 15 years
  • Portraits : 15 years plus

Dates for the 2020 Competition

  • The closing date is 30 April 2020 (11.30pm AEST)
  • Winners will be announced by 13 May 2020

How to upload your photos

  1. Upload instructions will be advised by Caloundra Rotary in the email confirming receipt of your entry fee
  2. You may upload up to four photos per entry fee
  3. Your age as at the date of entry will determine which age-group you may enter
  4. Your unique Booking ID must be included in the upload
  5. Within three days of your entries being received, you may view all entries on Caloundra Rotary's Flickr site.
  6. Flickr members may like and comment on the photos entered in the competition.
