Our last meeting

President of the Inner Wheel Club of Sunshine Coast, Meg Nagel was our guest speaker this morning.
 
Inner Wheel allows around 3,000 dedicated women in Australia to share their friendship and passion for community service and take action for lasting change, but it is an international organisation established in 1924 and launched in Australia not long after.
 
Meg presented a potted history of Inner Wheel and outlined two main projects - the provision of birthing kits and raising funds for Cord Bank Research (a national project).
 
 

Visitors

Quite a number of visitors joined us today including Jamie Clyne who is working locally and is the Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Goondiwindi (see story below), Trevor Gates-Crandall, and of course Brian Wallace from the Rotary Club of Nowra who we expect to welcome formally next Tuesday.

  • Currimundi Lake Community Clean Up - volunteer to clean up and/or promote Rotary Awareness - details here
  • the Walk to End Polio on 13 October
  • the Donations in Kind (working bee) this Saturday
  • World Polio Day on 24 October
He also presented a lot of information about the concept and funding of the All Abilities Playground proposed for Grahame Stewart Park at Currimundi (map location here).

  • Gordon unfortunately has pneumonia
  • Thankfully, Kath has returned home to complete her recuperation
  • Genta announced that Happy Community Network Inc.'s "Japanese Festival" has been nominated Community Event of the Year in the Caloundra Electorate's 2019 Community Awards.  See all the nominations here and look out for the winners on 11 October.  Congratulations Genta!
    • Looking closely at the list of nominations, we see that the Caloundra Men's Shed has been nominated as Community Group of the Year.  Congratulations Jim! 
    • Also that Jim and Neville have been nominated as Community Volunteer of the Year.  Congratulations and Good luck Jim and Neville!
