Cam Young - Radio 104.9 (Sunshine FM)

Cam has just celebrated 41 years in Radio. He started at 4LM in Mt Isa at the ripe old age of 23.

Today you can hear his dulcet tones on Sunshine FM in Buderim during the week and on Saturday mornings.

Ian chaired the meting and proposed the Loyal Toast to Australia

Stephen introduced Cam, who we found out was born in Esk

Cam was already "too old" when he started in radio in Mt Isa, the "wild west" of Queensland in 1979

He recounted some of his experience from the personalities he encountered to the changing technology

Those in the digital era have it lucky compared to the hand held records, card machines and spliced reel to reel tapes which Cam had to master

The disco night at the Overlander Hotel at Mt Isa must have been something to behold

particularly the "Micky Mouse" theme just about starting a riot

"Would you mind not playing that again Cam"

And of course, nobody noticed when "F...ed if I know" won the Cloncurry Cup

He's had 20 years in Current Affairs and something like 60,000 interviews

And you might hear more from him - he's running for Council
