Welcome to visitors Jim & Ian, also Don and Heather
and Welcome to a a new Rotary year with theme "serve to change lives"
and it's also goodbye District 9600 and hello District 9620

and does anyone really know what happened to District 9600?
According to Google there are roughly 535 Districts in the Rotary world, which are then organized into Zones. The Zones usually have around 18 Districts and there are 34 Zones. Since that's still a large number, the Zones are paired in two's. Confused yet?
Even Google could only give a rough number of districts, but no word on what happened to District 9600. Hate to encourage the conspiracy theorists, but ...

Good morning and thank you for giving me the opportunity to give you an update on the progression of the Caloundra Information HUB.

As most of you are aware this Community Project has been on my Agenda since October last year.  After quite a few hurdles and meetings with interested groups and the Auspice of the Caloundra Rotary Club there is now a very positive Steering Committee of 7 and a group of very interested members of clubs and associations, the backing of Cr Terry Landsberg the HUB is now moving.
Just a short precie on what is envisaged for the HUB in the future.

INTRODUCTION
The concept of a combined centre catering to the needs of the whole of the Caloundra community and visitors to the Sunshine Coast Region.  There is a need for a one stop shop for the residents of Caloundra and Visitors to the Sunshine Coast to be able to call at a place, where they can obtain information that would assist them to better enjoy life on the Sunshine Coast in particularly Caloundra both short term and long-term residency.  The coming together of Clubs and Associations to form the Caloundra Information Hub would provide an opportunity for the residents to better enjoy the living experience and provide valuable information to holiday makers.  In addition, this would enhance the use of local businesses by providing direct non-bias information on all things available in Caloundra and the greater Sunshine Coast Region.

The proposal to look at a combined Information hub with its own governing body will endeavour to fill the present shortfall by providing a relaxed, independent location where short- or long-term residence can spend time engaged in a variety of information activities.

A number of present Clubs and Associations in Caloundra have indicated their willingness to look at what is being proposed.  The Rotary Club of Caloundra has put up their hand to play a lead role in establishing the Caloundra Information Hub with the view to handing over to a dedicated CIH board for the management of the site and operation of the CIH staffing with Volunteers from each of the Clubs and Associations.

AIM
The ideas behind this concept are;
a.    Presently as Clubs and Associations we are all in the business of assisting the community and consequentially have similar aims;
b.    From this proposal all Clubs and Associations will be under the same roof regardless providing for the needs of our community and visitors to the area.
c.    The older Clubs and Associations can assist and support the younger organisations serving the community;
d.    Under the current system Clubs and Associations are operating independently of each other.  Although they would maintain the individuality but collaborate to better service the community.

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.
