Swimdo
Swimdo

An avid surfer from San Francisco, California, Seamus has travelled the world in pursuit of the best swells, ultimately leading him to making Bali his home. Seamus founded Swimdo in 2015, after noticing a ubiquitous lack of swimming education in the local communities, especially among children.  Seamus started out going to villages and teaching the children himself.  Now he recruits local teachers, provides trainings and develops new swimming schools.  Most recently he started a water safety program in an indigenous Dayak community in central Borneo.  Seamus graduated from the University of Oregon in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

A few words from President Bernie
Rotary International is a Service Club and I love how it serves the Community not only locally but worldwide.  I would like to say though that I wish our politicians would take it upon themselves to look at the Rotarian Code of Conduct and follow it through in their professional life serving their constituents in in the way they promised to do when they were sworn in. If we, as Rotarians can do it, why can’t they.   I am sure our Country would be situated in a better position.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF
Act with integrity and high ethical standards in personal and professional life.
Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect.
Use their professional skills to mentor young people, help those with special needs, and help improve people’s quality of life in the community.
Avoid behaviour that reflects adversely on the position that they hold in the Community.
Back to our busy little Club and what is happening.  Get well wishes go out to President Elect Chris as he has spent a little time in hospital, and to Kath as she too is spending a little time in hospital as well.  Our very best wishes to you both for a speedy recovery.

Continue helping Rotary spread the word that #VaccinesWork
As World Immunization Week comes to a close, you can still join Rotary as we raise awareness of the importance of vaccination and our work to #EndPolio.

Each year, Rotary and our partners vaccinate 400 million children against polio. When children receive the polio vaccine, their pinky fingers are marked with purple ink so health workers know which children are protected.

Raise awareness of vaccination and polio eradication efforts and paint your nails — or pinkie — purple. For a chance to be featured on Rotary’s social media channels, take a photo and share it on your page using the hashtags #EndPolio and #VaccinesWork.

District Governor's newsletter
I’ve heard some Rotarians talk about getting stale in their clubs and wondering what they can do to get back some impetus - Go to a Rotary District Conference or a Rotary international Convention and I don’t think you can help but be inspired. If you’re not coming along this year then maybe you should start planning a holiday around convention time in the next year or two

RI President's May message
The people who know me best — my family — know that my passion for Rotary is boundless. They also know that I don't expect them to get involved in Rotary the way I have. It's a choice that's up to them. But I must admit, I can't help smiling when I see them making the right choice.
...
This month, let's Be the Inspiration to the young leaders in our communities by mentoring them, engaging them, and working side by side with them on meaningful projects. It's an investment in their future and in the world they will live in after we're gone. And it's work that will forever enrich their lives, and our own.
